Liu Mingkang

Professor Liu Mingkang was born in 1946 in Fuzhou (Fujian Province). He is a graduate of Beijing University (Economics) and has a MBA of Business School from City University of London. He was a teacher from 1965 to 1974. In 1975 he joined a state-owned company, Danyang Steel Rolling Mill, as a technician. He joined Bank of China (Nanjing Branch) in 1979. In 1984 he was sent to the London Branch of Bank of China as Deputy Manager of the Trade Settlement Division. In 1987, he was appointed General Manger of a finance company of Bank of China in the Jiangsu province. In 1988 he became Deputy General Manager of the Fuzhou Branch of Bank of China, then General Manager. In 1993, he was appointed Vice-Governor of the Fujian province. In 1994, he became Vice-Governor of the State Development Bank of China. In April 1998, he was appointed Vice-Governor of the People's Bank of China, the Central Bank. In 1999, he was appointed Chairman of the China Resources group, a State-controlled company listed on the Hong Kong stockmarket with headquarter in Hong Kong. In 2000, he was appointed Chairman of a State-owned bank.
