Mahinda Samarasinghe Mahinda Samarasinghe, a trained Economics, was elected to Parliament from the Kalutara District in 1994. He was also a member of the Western Provincial Council and later became the Leader of the House in the WPC while holding the post of Health and Economics Infrastructure Minister. He was also the Chief Organiser in the WPC Opposition in 1993. Mr. Samarasinghe entered Parliament in 2000 by obtaining the highest number of preferential votes and was later appointed as the Deputy Chief Organiser in the Parliament. Mahinda Samarasingh was appointed as the Chief Government whip and Employment and Labour Minister by Sri-Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. A senior officer of the Sri Lanka Foreign Service, Mr. Samarasinghe was a permanent member of the United Nations in Geneva. He is also the current President of the Inter Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights. | |||
